Armbruster Dripps Blotevogel LLC partners Michael Blotevogel and Charles Armbruster recently defeated pre-trial motions by a municipality and its police officers in a police brutality case that was captured by video footage. The Central District of Illinois court agreed there was sufficient evidence the officers’ actions were caused by the failure of the City to have policies in place to guard against unnecessary violence. The same court also rejected the City’s attempt to bifurcate the trial to separate the claims against the offending officer from the claims against the City.
