ADWB Wins Punitive Damages Against Trucking Company For Wrongful Discharge

Armbruster Dripps Blotevogel LLC partners Charles Armbruster and Michael Blotevogel secured a verdict of $892,600.00 on behalf of their client against Beelman Truck Co. The verdict included $875,000 in punitive damages. The jury found that Beelman fired its employee after it learned he had filed two workers’ compensation claims with previous employers.  The trial court ultimately determined the ratio of punitive damages to the $17,000 in compensatory damages awarded by the jury was too high, and entered judgment in the amount of $334,400.
